Can You Use Baby Wipes.to.clean a Horses Udders
OK, I've not had a mare to clean before and in all honestly my mare was a witch today. I was very cautious and prepared to practise information technology over a couple of days, so I didn't but dive in in that location, but she cow kicked for Wales.
So, any tips???? If I had an assistant then it would be easier.
Meant to add - I'm using infant launder and warm water with a soft cloth. Is that ok? How thorough practise you need to be (used to a gelding you see!!!) Thank you.
When we do Fany'southward we employ a baby wipe if information technology is non too bad or warm water with hibiscrub if muddied. However she is not a kicker, non sure how you would become nearly it. How nigh a long stick with the cloth on the end?
Sorry not much help. Seriously it may just be a example of getting her used to it.

ETA- I await the baby wash volition be fine. Fany likes hers dried subsequently, gets really sulky if not stale.
Why do you take to make clean her teats? Has she had an infection?
Well, not that I know of ( ! ) but she looks a bit crusty there and I assumed that as in my gelding, she would need the odd clean?
mine didn't mind it before, but now she hates it. I recollect i wasn't firm enough and amused her once and now it is the only role of her torso that she tin't stand me touching. I usually use a baby wipe and blow on it to warm information technology and exercise it rapidly before she notices. Or if she is sedated for whatsoever reason.
A lot of people reckon that you don't need to do it anyway. As well some people have never heard of it being done and have never tried to clean there.
Nosotros started when Fany had mastitis (sp) and we've simply continued. Also if she ever needs examining she is used to beingness touched at that place, so no problems with legs coming out.
Non so keen on doing Captain's boys $.25, he really does not like it.

Hmm, I have never cleaned a mare's teats unless she has had mastitis but that it not to say I am right.
However I would sugggest that as your mare is obviously not corking on you doing it, it might be also to exit alone. Certainly not worth risking a kick
True, a boot isn't expert! I guess I thought that my gelding (who does get pretty dirty in that private area) actually needs information technology doing and then perhaps she must too.
Hiya I clean my mare as part of her grooming routine every bit she has a build of blackness grease and dirt which tin can't be comfy. I started getting her used to it by running the flat of my manus down the inside of her stifle firmly enough that it didn't tickle but gentle plenty so not to scare her when she moved I gave her a 'no' and kept my hand in place gradually only building upwards to wiping the teats with a warm sponge. I capeesh your mare is probably bit more ticklish just I accept used the same procedure with others in my care in can exist useful to face the tail and put your gratuitous hand on the mares quarters so as they try to kicking give them a firm button on the rump and a no and attempt and go along your mitt underneath telling her she's good a little treat might assist as well.
i don't clean mine, never have. the waxy substance on and around there teats protects them, it keeps the skin moist while stopping water dissentious the skin.
All 3 of mine love having their teats cleaned, they go all gooey-eyed and relaxed
Can't offer any assistance as mine adores having hers washed - nothing more than embarassing than being bent double and rummaging around in your horse's boobs while they grunt and wiggle their lip in pleasance.
I exercise it regularly considering she gets greasy, crusty black... stuff upward inbetween them and if I let it build up it actually seems to make the skin sore.
Edit: Would she let you eject a glug of babe oil up at that place? It might loosen all the crusty bits up at to the lowest degree.
All my mares accept loved having their teats cleaned, i of them even used to "ask" to have hers done.
Ha black cob nicely put!!! People enquire me what I'chiliad doing equally she looks and so goggle eyed a adept scratch on the omphalus is well loved too!!! It'south when they move their leg out as of to stay 'left abit' lol!
All my mares take loved having their teats cleaned, one of them even used to "ask" to have hers done.
My tarty mare loves it as well, and asks, but it has to exist OH doing the cleaning. She even delicately lifts her leg to allow easier access
